Episode: The One With The Male Nanny (S9E6)

Friends' 200th episode found Ross and Rachel searching for a nanny for Emma, which led to the introduction of Sandy, a sensitive, caring childminder who Rachel instantly takes a liking to. But Ross... well, he takes some convincing.

Sandy is terrific at his job, but Ross thinks it's weird for a man to be looking after children as a full-time profession. Ultimately, Sandy is fired because of this, but not before he gets Ross to open up about his father, causing the eldest Geller sibling to bawl like a baby in his living room.

The best thing about Sandy is that he doesn't let anyone get him down. Despite Ross being quite rude towards him, Sandy takes the high road and is nothing but nice in return, rather than being confrontational. It's uplifting to watch a character who's just plain wholesome, all the way to their core, and his empathic nature is a trait that's easy to admire.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
