Better late than never!

Friends is a sitcom so iconic you only have to mention it in a room, and people will start professing their love for it, hating on it or screaming "how you doin'?" at the top of their lungs. It's a series that everyone has something to say about, which is why we still talk about it today.

Part of what made this show so iconic was the cast of colourful characters who backed up the lead six. Although the central (perk) friends themselves were the show's biggest focus, fans got to see a host of brilliant faces keeping them company, many of which deserved just as much time in the spotlight.

The likes of Janice, Gunther, the Gellers and more are just as synonymous with the show as the leading cast. But, while those figures all made their names known right off the starting line, there are plenty of others who were a little late to the sprint.

Despite being introduced after the first season, these characters made a huge splash on the show and deserve to go down as some of the best-supporting characters in this beloved television classic.

10. Erica

Erica actually holds the luxury of being the last recurring character to be introduced into the show, meaning she easily qualifies for this list and had a lot of pressure to live up to. Luckily, she fully pulled it off, as she was a delight to watch, and became the figure who kickstarted the new life of Monica/Chandler.

This character was introduced in the show's ninth season as the birth mother for the children Monica and Chandler were hoping to adopt. This instantly put her in an important position, as she held two of the most beloved figures' futures in her hands.

Although they got off to a rocky start, Erica eventually became another member of the family, as she spent plenty of time with the excitable adoptees, and fans got the chance to know her. She was ditsy, bubbly and optimistic, so watching her interact with the characters was hilarious.

In the end, Monica/Chandler even named one of the kids after her, proving just how big a part she played in the show's climax.
