Season 1 Episode 24 Having watched the Ross/Rachel dynamic play out mostly as Ross' unlikely fantasy for most of the first season, fans saw the writers pull an almighty switcheroo that changed everything when Rachel found out that he was in love with her. Instead of dismissing him as the dorky older brother of her best friend, Rachel realised she felt the same way and went to the airport to start their relationship, only for Ross to come back with Julie, his new girlfriend. Ingeniously, we never got to see that moment when the episode first screened, and heartbreakingly the episode closed on Rachel's excitement, expectant face. This was the first real moment on the journey to Ross and Rachel's final coming together in the last episode, so in retrospect it seems fitting it played out at the airport.
