Season 8 Episode 1 Though she'd be loath to admit it, the perfect storm of Monica's wedding to Chandler and the revelation that somebody is pregnant was a marriage made in Heaven for the show's ratings as it stormed to a high that wasn't seen since the fourth season finale. Clearly Friends fans loved a wedding. The Whodunnit-style focus on the pregnancy test after the cliffhanger of season 7's finale clearly helped to sell the episode as the cast gradually learned that Rachel was the lady with a baby. And though it was spun out a little too long, the decision not to reveal the father created a Who Shot JR style moment for the show without anyone having to be killed off.
