Friends: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best

Since Season Ten was never planned, the writers had a lot riding on them going into it. Whilst it's much sillier than previous seasons, it does a much better job than Season Nine of balancing the show's signature blend of comedy and drama. The finale is an epic and deeply moving portrait of the gang growing up and moving on, whilst episodes such as "The One with Phoebe's Wedding" and "The One with Rachel's Going Away Party" add a layer of finality to the series, each packing a solid emotional punch.

It's not all sad, though, as Season Ten also makes way for more of Mike (more Paul Rudd never being a bad thing), sees Ross get his iconic bad tan, and has Danny DeVito turn up as the world's funniest stripper.

Outside of all this there remains an off-base sense of humour which often feels a bit too over-the-top, best seen in episodes when Joey tries to speak French or when Estelle passes away (both showcasing how stupid the writers had allowed Joey to become). Also, the season starts with Joey and Rachel getting together, a storyline which never should have been allowed to happen and perfectly demonstrated how strapped for ideas the writers had become.
