Friends: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best
7. Season Eight
Season Eight was the last truly great season of Friends, with Rachel's pregnancy leading to some of the show's most hilarious and dramatic moments. For once, this season feels like all the characters are involved in each others' stories, without splitting the gang up into separate sub-plots.
The arc following the gang working together to guess who Rachel's having a baby with is comedy gold, even if the outcome is incredibly obvious for the audience, and guest stars Alec Baldwin and Brad Pitt bring a great amount of hilarity to the group dynamic.
Despite the pregnancy arc being mostly well-handled and fun to watch, Season Eight falls down when it threatens to bring Joey and Rachel together for the first time, and Monica's paranoia that her maid is stealing her clothes never hits the right marks when it comes to Friends' level of usually intelligent comedy.
All-in-all, it's a solid season, but that's primarily down to Rachel's pregnancy and Jennifer Aniston's brilliant performance throughout. It's let down in the end by some brief character inconsistencies and its final episode, which begins the weak Joey/Rachel proposal arc, and shows the writers beginning to run low on original, compelling ideas.
