Futurama: 10 Best Zoidberg Moments
3. Zoidberg Finds True Love
A recurring theme of Futurama is seeing Zoidberg get very unlucky when it comes to relationships. We all know he’s a good-hearted lobster who means well and deserves love because of his kind nature, but that kind of charm doesn't have mass appeal.
Thankfully, the producers didn’t leave us without closure of this particular subject because in the penultimate episode, Zoidberg finds love with Marianne, a flower girl with literally no sense of smell. Although it may have helped that she couldn’t detect his pungency, Marianne is one of the very few people to show kindness to the Doctor right from the very moment of meeting him.
Zoidberg loves Marianne with all his three hearts and would do absolutely anything for her which is why he can’t live with the guilt of knowing as a doctor, he could alter her nose so that she could finally have a sense of smell. It’s the ultimate sacrifice of his own happiness if it means granting her what she desires most.
Marianne awakens from a successful surgery and prefers the odour of Zoidberg over the scent of flowers. She never knew a bad smell from a good one but likes his smell because she’s always liked him. It’s one of the sweetest romances ever on Futurama and as an audience, we are left satisfied knowing the lovably odd doctor found love.
