2. Being Trapped Inside A Space Whale
Only in Futurama could the title of this entry ever make any actual sense. While Fry, Leela, and Bender may be the Professor's current Planet Express crew, they certainly weren't the first. That honour belongs to Captain Lando Tucker, Candy, and Lifter, the devastatingly handsome forklift.
When they were sent out on Planet Express' first ever delivery, things went wrong as they were attacked in the Bermuda Tetrahedron by a four dimensional space whale. Presumed dead, the Professor, along with Lando's wife and son, got on with their lives, but he was still alive the whole time.
The whale itself fed on obsession, something that it could get more of from a space captain than anyone else. So once it swallowed Tucker whole, it fed off his obsession for the next 50 years, trapping him and melding him to the inside of its stomach, while Candy and Lifter were stuck inside the beast's infinity stomach.
As Tucker was almost bled dry, the whale found Leela to replace him, but she was able to overpower its will, unlike her predecessor. She was able to finally bring him home after 50 years of constant suffering, but not before he missed almost his son's entire life, and became a withered away husk of a man.
