Futurama: 10 Character Fates Worse Than Death

3. Being Buried Alive

When the Planet Express crew ended up going back in time to Roswell in 1947, they only had a certain amount of time to get back to the future. While they made it with just seconds to spare, Bender's head fell out of the ship, leaving him with no way of getting back to the future aside from waiting around for a thousand years.

In a similar fashion, when he went back in time in Bender's Big Score to steal all the valuable artefacts of the past, the only way to make it back to the year 3000 was to sit and wait in the caverns under the Planet Express building.

While this would be worse than death for most people, particularly when he was just a head buried under the ground, Bender didn't mind. He was enjoying it until he was 'rescued', but there were some robots that suffered a similar fate, and didn't enjoy it so much.

Titanium prices went sky rocketing when a mine caved in, trapping 1000 robots underground. They were expected to die in 300 years' time, but the city's plan was simply to pave over the area and get on with their lives. Imagine being trapped underground, having nothing to do but wait for death for 300 years.

Let's also not forget that Julia Roberts wasn't really dead when she was buried either.
