Futurama: 10 Most Annoying Little Inconsistencies

1. The Holophoner Concert Meant Nothing

Fry Leela Kiss Ending Futurama
Fox

The relationship between Fry and Leela ultimately became the heart and soul of Futurama. Though there was always a lot going on around it, this was always central to the show to the point that all four of the series finales revolved around them in some way.

When the series was first cancelled, it ended with the classic ‘The Devil’s Hands Are Idle Playthings’, in which Leela seemed to finally begin falling for Fry. As the show ended, Fry’s holophoner showed the two kissing and walking off into the distance as she was the only one left in the theatre to watch. It was perfect.

Two years later however, Futurama returned and there was absolutely no mention of this huge moment shared between the two of them. Initially, it seemed as though the concert acted as an unspoken thing where Fry and Leela finally came together, but obviously not.

In 'Bender’s Big Score', though Fry was still in love with Leela, Leela had no problem dating, falling in love with, and almost marrying Lars. What could have possibly happened between the concert and Hermes’ decapitation that left them in this awkward situation, and why was it never actually addressed?
