Futurama: 10 Most Annoying Little Inconsistencies

3. Bender's Evolution

Futurama is a show that relies heavily on science. The creators and the writers are all nerds, and this absolutely translates across to Professor Farnsworth. From his inventions to his opinions on certain divisive subjects, logical and rational science always plays a big part. One of the best examples of this is 'A Clockwork Origin'.

This is the classic debate of evolution vs creationism, in which Professor Farnsworth holds the unwavering opinion that robots do not and could not evolve. We’ve all seen the stupidly popular Farnsworth meme about not wanting to live on this planet anymore, but he was in fact wrong.

All episode Bender keeps showing Hubert ‘proof’ that he and the robot race in general have evolved, but at every turn he was dismissed. Why didn’t he give the Professor what would have been the irrefutable argument that he had seen such evolution with his own eyes some years prior?

When the Professor underwent an age-altering spa treatment, it led to everyone in the company bar Leela aging backwards, including Bender. He went from his usual form to a teenager, to a toddler, all the way back to a disc of blueprints. How could the Professor possibly think that robots couldn’t evolve when he has seen all of Bender’s previous forms first-hand?

This standard nerd combines the looks of Shaggy with the brains of Scooby, has an unhealthy obsession with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and is a firm believer that Alter Bridge are the greatest band in the world.
