7. Slurms And Conditions (Fry And The Slurm Factory)
I've never been interested in tasting a Duff beer or trying a Krusty Burger but growing up, I always wanted to taste Slurm. That was of course until that scene where they show it being squeeze out of the queen slug and then I didn't eat for a week.
In Season 2 episode 4, Fry wins a trip to visit the Slurm Factory in a brilliant parody of Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. Much like the beloved film, everything seems magical and fairytale-like on the surface but behind the scenes, it had a disturbing secret.
When we paused: At the beginning of the episode, Fry is watching a Slurm advertisement (with the voice talent of Pamela Anderson, may I add), where they reveal the competition to become a guest at the Slurm factory. In order to do so, the winner had to find a winning bottle cap but the competition had some terms and conditions, they fizz past the screen at an alarming rate but if you pause the video at 00:35, it reads:
Slurm has been found to cause cancer in laboratory humans. Employees of Slurm Corp. and their families are eligible to enter and probably will win.
