Futurama: 10 Worst Episodes
1. That's Lobstertainment
The Episode: After getting booed offstage during a stand-up comedy routine, Zoidberg asks his famous uncle to teach him the art of humour. Harold Zoid, a retired silent film star who is desperate to relive his former glory, instead persuades Zoidberg to fund the production of a new film. The movie, of course, tanks, putting the Planet Express team on a collision course with the powerful robot actor Calculon.
Why It Sucks: The truth is that Zoidberg is great as a bit-part character. Since his introduction in the pilot episode he has been given plenty of great one-liners and scene-stealing moments. This has led to Zoidberg being a favourite character for many fans. But he just can't carry an episode on his own. The second season episode, Why Must I Be A Crustacean In Love?, already proved this. He works precisely because he is the victim in the jokes, not the hero. The whole point of the character is that he's pathetic and unlikable, so putting him centre stage and expecting viewers to like him was never going to work.
