3. I Second That Emotion (S2E5)
It’s been said already on this list that Bender is deep down a performer who just wants attention. When Nibbler stole all that attention from him on his birthday, and ate the cake Bender made before anyone had the chance to admire it, the robot flushed the Nibblonian down the toilet.
This resulted in a crazy experiment from the Professor that crossed the line man was not supposed to cross. Bender was fitted with an empathy chip to feel how much he hurt Leela’s feelings, and they, along with Fry, took to the sewers to get Nibbler back.
As emotionless and cruel as Bender usually is, demonstrated perfectly at the start of the episode, it was a wonderful change of pace to see him feel what most robots never could, even if it was a couple of seconds after he was supposed to.
He took on previously unseen mutants, El Chupanibre, and anything else thrown at him to get Nibbler back, and just as it seemed he learned his lesson and that the empathy chip was never working at all, this was hilariously snatched away by the Professor at the last second.
