12. Ice-9
In the episode War Is the H-Word, theres a brief establishing shot of a 7/11 at the very beginning. It goes by pretty fast, but for a moment we can see a sign in the window that reads Free bag of ICE-9 with 6 pack. This is a reference to the excellent Kurt Vonnegut novel Cats Cradle. In the book, Ice-nine is a substance that can freeze water extremely quickly, but that becomes pretty dangerous considering how much of the human body consists of water. Its a nice little shout out to a great piece of literature that you wouldnt often see being referenced in a cartoon like this.
