Game Of Thrones: 10 Alternative Actors Who Should Have Been Cast

Brienne of Tarth - Maxine Peake vs. Gwendonline Christie

Maxine-Peake-007Where have I seen her? Shameless, Dinnerladies. Fan favourite Brienne of Tarth, described by Jaime Lannister as a "giant toe-headed plank" is a woman with bigger man parts than most of The Night's Watch and Theon Greyjoy put together, so why not actress Maxine Peake? No stranger to playing hard nosed roles, she played feisty Manchester lass Veronica Fisher for the first four series of Paul Abbot's 'Shameless', before sinking her teeth into stage work and the role of Myra Hindley in 2006's 'See No Evil: The Moors Murders'. Peake wanted to enter acting early, but was rejected from every theatre education company in The North West, eventually she gained sponsorship for RADA and her career went from strength to strength. The role of Brienne is currently played by British behemoth Gwendoline Christie who towers over the other cast members at 6ft 3 in, the only way to decide who should win is to put them both in a pit with a bear and see what happens.
