It was heavily implied throughout the advertising campaign that two of the game's major players were about to join forces, and while Varys' line in the trailer - "Who said anything about him?" - was always pointing at Daenerys, the first episode confirmed it. Now the meeting seemingly depends on how long it takes for Varys to haul a drunken Tyrion from Pentos to Meereen; no short task considering how long it's taken Daenerys to wander around the wilderness (she too started her journey from Pentos). The trip could be brought to a swift close in a matter of an episode or two, but with such a great distance to cover, and the fact the GoT team like to take their time, it's unlikely their road with be straight and without danger along the way.
