9. Declared Independence... From Themselves
In one of the most controversial finales since the Sopranos infamous cut to black, Game of Thrones Season 8 was full of lazy writing and dumb decisions.
Perhaps the oddest and most infuriating decision was to have Bran Stark declared King of Westeros. With the argument that he "had the best story" fans were left perplexed after witnessing countless other tales told better than his journey.
But at least the Starks won, right? Well for some reason having your brother as King of the Seven Kingdoms was not enough for Sansa as she declares that the North will become an independent state. This brazen decision will almost certainly lead to countless wars and battles in the years to come. Not only will the other six kingdoms fight for their own independence but it ensures that all of Westeros remains divided should another looming threat arise again.
If the Night King ever returned, or indeed any horror from the North, why would anyone come to the Stark's aid?
Sansa's decision is selfish, rash, and puts all of the kingdoms at risk of future conflict. Hopefully book version is a little more forward-thinking.
