"And the Dragonknight? The noblest knight who ever lived, you said, and he took his queen to bed and got her with child."

Not to be confused with the man who'd become Maester of the Night's Watch, Prince Aemon Targaryen would go on to become one of the most famous and celebrated members of the Kingsguard in history.

He was deemed so skilled that even in his youth he was deemed worthy of carrying the Valyrian steel longsword Dark Sister, one of the two ancestral swords of House Targaryen, and was then made a member of the Kingsguard aged just 17.

He took part in an invasion of Dorne, when he gained fame by killing a Dornish champion, although the conquest itself was unsuccessful. He would serve five kings in total, working his way up to the position of Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, which he held when he eventually died defending King Aegon IV.

It says a lot that while Aegon is now known as the Unworthy, while Aemon the Dragonknight is one of the most revered figures in Westeros. No knight was more noble, and few could match his skill.
