Game Of Thrones: 10 Moments That Prove Stannis Was The Mannis
6. He Saved The Nights Watch
For all of the squabbling and battling between the self-styled Kings of Westeros, there is a much bigger threat, something that when it comes these other wars will feel wholly insignificant. The Nights Watch wrote to all of the Kings and Lords desperately seeking more men in the fight against the White Walkers, but little help is sent their way. Only Stannis (with some convincing from Davos and Melisandre) takes the threat seriously, and decides to actually help the Watch. After travelling to Braavos to secure funding from the Iron Bank, Stannis leads his army to The Wall and defeats the wildlings, led by Mance Rayder, saving Jon Snows life in the process. Stannis knows the importance of The Wall and the Nights Watch, and understands what is coming, which cant be said for any of the other claimants.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
