6. Hodor
Season six was a great time for Game of Thrones fans. Jon Snow finally came back to life, the epic Battle of the Bastards took place, and everyone was blissfully unaware of just how irrelevant and pointless the white walkers would turn out to be.
As Bran, Hodor, Jojen, and Meera travelled ever further north, the dangers they faced became greater and greater. Even when they reached the Three Eyed Raven in his sanctuary, with the Children of the Forest as back up, the fellowship still was not safe.
The death of Hodor has become one of the most iconic, and soul destroying scenes in Game of Thrones, as everyone’s favourite stable boy bravely, and valiantly sacrificed himself to the hoard of ice zombies so that the future King of Westeros could escape.
Not only did Hodor meet his maker this day north of the Wall, thanks to Bran playing inside his mind, it simultaneously scarred the boy formerly known as Walder for life, turning him into the simple minded giant we know and love.
