Game Of Thrones: 10 Most Hated Characters
9. Night King
Before being anticlimactically stabbed in the stomach by Arya, the Night King was the biggest big bad of the show. There’s a couple of reasons why he was such a hated character, and they both fold into each other.
The first is a pretty classic reason: he’s a remorseless, unfeeling killer, able to turn the dead against their former friends and family. He was truly formidable foe, at least at first, and cut a hugely imposing figure, and felt like he was being built up for the ultimate showdown.
He was hated in all of the best ways; a baddie on a Darth Vader, Lord Voldemort style legendary villain arc.
Then Arya killed him.
The Long Night itself seemed to wrap too many characters up in plot armour, it felt over too quickly, and in the end seemed very superfluous. The second reason the Night King is hated is because of how terribly his potential was squandered.
Knowing that his entire arc was all for nought stains the entire series. It comprises a massive part of Game Of Thrones’ lore, and in the end it all matters not.
