Game Of Thrones: 10 Most Memorable Moments From Season 8

3. Drogon Burns The Iron Throne

The most debated question about the series’ ending surrounded who would actually win the Game of Thrones and sit on the Iron Throne. The real answer is no - one, because Drogon burns it into a hot mess.

After Jon kills Daenerys, Drogon is devastated that he’s basically alone in the world. Jon’s pretty certain that Drogon’s about to burn him to a cinder, but instead he turns around and burns the Iron Throne instead. This makes a lot of sense considering that he’s lost everything by helping Daenerys’ in her pursuit of this power.

When you think about it, the destruction of the Iron Throne is the best ending. The worst atrocities in Game of Thrones have been in the pursuit of power. The Iron Throne is the ultimate symbol of this, after all, it’s actually made from the swords of a bunch of dead people. With the Iron Throne gone, they can truly break the wheel.

Despite the fact that destroying the Iron Throne was the best ending, it’s still a shocking moment, and therefore ranks among the most memorable of the series.
