Game Of Thrones: 10 Most Memorable Moments From Season 8
2. Bran Is Made King
This is without a doubt, the biggest curve - ball the series has ever thrown in our direction, and it’ll always be remembered as such. With an absence of a viable ruler, Tyrion suggests that they select a ruler. He makes a good case for Bran as the new King of Westeros, and the lords and ladies of Westeros agree.
This is definitely a good decision for the future of Westeros, and Tyrion’s reasons for nominating Bran as a ruler actually make a lot of sense. With him being a fountain of knowledge and memories, he’ll be a ruler that will never forget the mistakes of the past. With Bran as King and the Iron Throne destroyed, you could consider the wheel well and truly shattered. It’s a positive ending that works, in that regard.
From an audience’s perspective however, it’s far more divisive. On one hand, a good ending for Westeros is a good ending for all. On the other hand, it feels a tad unearned. Bran was even absent for an entire season, and it seemed more like he was laying the groundwork for Jon’s rule by discovering his birthright and bringing it to his attention.
Whether you love or hate this decision, you certainly won’t forget about it anytime soon. It’ll probably go down in history as one of television’s most unexpected and divisive decisions.
