Game Of Thrones: 10 Most Powerful Characters Going Into Season 7

Daenerys may rank as the most powerful among the human characters of Game of Thrones, but there's one who stands above even her.

The Night King is the overarching Big Bad of Game of Thrones, and while we haven't yet seen the full display of his might - and probably won't until Season 8 - we've seen and know enough to conclude he is the most powerful character in this world.

Consider his army: the wights are zombie-like creatures in that they're undead, except capable of moving fast and, since they seemingly don't have much in the way of intelligence, will do whatever they are commanded, and they're pretty difficult to kill. And they're just the footsoldiers.

The White Walkers are basically powerful, immortal ice demons. Unlike the wights they are impervious to fire, and the only things known to kill them are dragonglass and Valyrian steel - neither of which is in great supply among the ranks of their enemies. They have superior strength, and can shatter weapons with a touch.

The Night King can do all of that, and more. As well as those White Walker abilities, he can also - as we saw with Bran - mark people, effectively providing him with a personal GPS and a pass through magical barriers. He can create seismic shifts in the ground. He possesses the ability to turn babies into White Walkers, and can RAISE THE DEAD into an ever-increasing army that he then controls.
