Surely they wouldn't do this to us again? Not after that traumatic experience back in season one when they lopped poor Ned's head off.

The Rains of Castamere marked a dark day in the story of Thrones, it was a brilliant episode but it shook Stark supporters to their very core. Like so often in the show, the writers dangled a way out for the main characters only to snatch it away.

At that point, Rob was on the back foot. Winterfell had been burned, Maester Luwin was dead and the Lannister's were stronger than ever with the additional support of the Tyrells.

In this episode we saw Rob finally form a plan to take back the North from the Ironborn, all he had to do was make a mends for his wrongs and grovel before the feet of Walder Frey, or so we thought...

It's a wonder people kept coming back to the show after this. Nothing seemed to be going right but Rob was the bastion of hope south of the Wall. Viewers were sure this guy would over come the odds stacked against him, that's what heroes do right? But not in Thrones, it was another lesson learned too late...
