The final episode of the first season of Game of Thrones was the perfect way to get fans coming back for more.

A stand out moment came in the form of a verbal dual between the realms two puppet masters. Varys and Littlefinger admitted their respect for one and traded insults, with the help of some of the best dialogue the writers ever produced. Symbolically it represented the petty feuding that would soon engulf all of Westeros, leaving fans on tenterhooks for what was to come next.

There was that stirring speech given by Greatjon Umber when he declared Rob Stark the King in the North. That was Rob's moment and Richard Madden nailed it. George R Martin would create scenes for the coming seasons just to have more Madden moments like that one.

After almost nine episodes of Jon Snow sulking around Castle Black, the Nights Watch rallied their remaining strength and rode beneath the Wall. The writers had been hinting at the dark mysterious that lay to the North for the entire season, and now fans were being promised a glimpse of the wild. But they would have to wait another year for season two.

And finally, was there anything more triumphant than the birth of Dany's Dragons?

This was perfection. The stage was set for one of the most engaging and epic stories in television history and after this episode the world was hooked.
