Game Of Thrones: 10 Perfect Episodes

4. Hardhome (Season 8 - Episode 5)

Was there ever a more unnerving and chilling moment then when Jon Snow looked back across the icy waters of Hardhome to see the dead rise in eery silence? It was another moment when the fans collectively held their breath as the credits began to roll.

This was one of the more perfect episodes in the show. Jon Snow's initial interactions with the Wildings were tense but amusing, and the writers even teased us with the second Ygritte - that bad ass Wilding women who was presented as a potential new love interest for Jon, only for her to be horrifically swarmed by child zombies...

The frantic and desperate flight of the Nights Watch and the Wildings was one of the most nail-biting moments of the entire series. From the moment the dogs started to bark, and the Walker mist started to roll in, we all knew something was up. The action sequence was executed perfectly, directed more as a horror sequence than a fantasy action scene, with the hordes of the undead utterly overwhelming the living.

This was the first time we saw the true power of the White Walkers. And it was damn scary.
