Game Of Thrones: 10 Questions We're Asking After 'Hardhome'
WINTER. IS. HERE.
Winter has arrived... Have you recovered from the latest Game of Thrones episode? Have you even slept since? Thought not. The long-awaited game-changers have arrived, and brought winter along with them. The White Walkers have been a lingering threat ever since the beginning of the show, and while most of the series revolves around the race for the Iron Throne south of the Wall, there's always been a very real danger that nobody was prepared for what lies north of it. Fans have been shown small glimpses of the white walkers, even just one clip per season, but each clip has ramped up the wow factor, before Season 5 Episode 8 'Hardhome' rocked the very foundations of the show with a mega battle scene between the fleeing wildlings and an entire army of the undead. There's so much to talk about when it comes to that 20 minute spell of sheer icy carnage, but Jon Snow's look of disbelief, shock, and sheer despair summed it all up perfectly. Winter is here, now who's going to stop it? Can they even stop it? Elsewhere in Westeros and beyond, several other key storylines played out very well, even if they were overshadowed by the white walkers emergence. In Westeros, Theon finally confessed to Sansa that Bran and Rickon made it out of the city alive, while Ramsay set up an intriguing proposition to take out Stannis Baratheon's troops with just a handful of men. In King's Landings, Cersei looked dishevelled and beaten, regardless of how defiant she is, while Qyburn yet again teased the return of The Mountain. Across the Narrow Sea in Braavos, Arya's story had a much-needed change of scenery, with her first assassination target in her crosshairs, while seeing Daenerys and Tyrion together in Meereen is a strange yet amazing development.
