Game Of Thrones: 10 Reasons Why A Prequel Series Would Be Awesome

10. It's Already Written

By this point, one of the biggest obstacles facing Game of Thrones' producers is the fact that the show is rapidly outpacing the available source material. With only five of the intended seven novels of the A Song of Ice and Fire series published and the show already getting ready to premiere its fifth season, the already loose adaptation is soon to become much looser. Granted, George R. R. Martin did clue showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss in on the ending of the saga, but there are still a lot of dangling threads that even Martin himself hasn€™t yet settled on how to resolve. There are a lot of blanks with regard to the War of the Five Kings, and not quite enough material to fill them. Fortunately, that€™s not a problem for the generation preceding Arya Stark and Myrcella Baratheon. The stories of their parents have already been written. Between accounts from the novels, context from canonical reference books, and interviews from Martin himself, the events of Robert Baratheon€™s rebellion and the downfall of the Targaryens has been pretty thoroughly documented. With a narrative map to follow and a focus on adults who can be played by actors who do not age out of their roles, a prequel series could be more cohesive than its parent program.
