Game Of Thrones: 10 Reasons Why A Prequel Series Would Be Awesome

9. Fantastic Characters

A drawback to producing a prequel is the necessary omission of certain characters. Many of the most compelling figures of Game of Thrones weren't even born at the time of Robert's Rebellion. As the majority of the main players from that era also happen to be very definitively dead in the current timeline, there wouldn't be a lot of overlap between the two series. All in all, it could be kind of a bummer for fans. At first. Once the fantastic characters of the previous generation are introduced on screen, it wouldn't even matter than Daenerys was still gestating and Jon Snow had not yet been sired. With Rhaegar Targaryen absconding with Lyanna Stark, Brandon Stark bellowing for Rhaegar to come out of the Red Keep and die, Jon Arryn calling his banners, the Mad King hoarding wildfire, Ser Arthur Dayne wielding the greatsword Dawn in defense of his prince, and Howland Reed saving Ned's life, there just wouldn't be time to miss anybody from Game of Thrones.
