Game Of Thrones: 10 Storylines From The Books The Show Ignored
7. A Dance With Dragons Part I - Quentyn Martell
Much of the fifth and latest book of the series was left out of the show, likely because it introduces a lot of new characters and subplots that the show just didn't have the time to deal with. Named 'A Dance With Dragons' for the sheer amount of key characters travelling the world to meet Daenerys, the first of these is the son of Doran and Prince of Dorne, Quentyn Martell.
Prince Doran reveals to his daughter, Arianne, that years ago there was a secret pact to wed her to Viserys Targaryen, binding the two great houses together. This is quite a bombshell, as it means that Dorne never dropped their allegiance to the dragons, and Doran Martell is technically a traitor of the highest order. With the Beggar Prince now dead however, Prince Doran sends his son Quentyn to Meereen to wed Daenerys instead.
Through deception and deceit, Quentyn reaches the mother of dragons, only to find her already wed to Hizdahr zo Loraq. To try and prove himself worthy of her love and marriage, against the advice of his companions, Quentyn plans to steal one of Daenerys' dragons and sail it back to Westeros.
All he manages to accomplish however, is releasing a very angry Rhaegal and Viserion upon the unsuspecting Meereen, getting scorched to death in the process.
