7. Attacking Ned
Because really, theres nothing brighter than assaulting the Hand of the King in broad daylight in the middle of the street. Of course, Jaime isnt the most level headed character in the series. Hes quite brash and arrogant, quick to anger and strike. He thinks with his sword, not his head, although the recent loss of a hand has sparked some newly found character growth. This was long before that though, and much like his quick decision to chuck Bran out of a tower window, attacking Ned and his guards in the middle of the day was also a bad decision. Granted, Ned didnt need to provoke the attack in the way he did, but Jaime certainly instigated the situation. Game of Thrones characters arent quite so black and white, rather, they are morally ambiguous and exist within shades of grey. Few characters are wholly good or evil, and while Ned may have appeared as our protagonist in the first season, he did help start a civil war. This scene contributed to it, but Jaime can be put at fault to a degree as well. Hindsight is 20/20, as they say, and he flees the city after, obviously partially due to witnessing the folly of his move. Ultimately, its up to the viewers to personally decide who was right and wrong in each situation.
