Game Of Thrones Season 6: 10 Ups And 2 Downs From 'Blood Of My Blood'
Ups...10. The Play Part 2
The not-quite-accurate retelling of Westerosi events continued this week, with the Braavosi theatre troupe this time acting out the story of the Purple Wedding. It was another fun moment, as we get to relive Joffrey dying, see Tyrion claim the credit, and watch Arya's gleeful reaction juxtaposed with all the dour faces around her.
There were some negative comments towards the play in the aftermath of last week's episode, and I can't imagine people who didn't like it then doing so anymore now. But getting to see this skewed version of events is an enjoyable history lesson, and has had a major impact on Arya's storyline.
The bulk of the credit goes to Essie Davis, who probably wouldn't have made a bad Cersei herself to be honest, had Lena Headey not fancied it. The purpose is all to get Arya to choose between being herself and no one, which it does well, while also having some fun at the same time.
