Game Of Thrones Season 6: 10 Ups And 2 Downs From 'Blood Of My Blood'
3. Sam's Decision
It took him a while, but Sam finally stood up to his dad. Not to his face, of course, but actually something much braver - and worse, in terms of potential repercussions: he stole his Valyrian steel sword, Heartsbane.
It's a symbolic theft more than anything else, because there's no real suggestion of Sam being skilled enough to wield it, nor is there likely to be much cause for it at the Citadel. Given what we've seen of Randyll so far, he isn't going to take the news lying down, and will no doubt be after his son fairly soon. For now, though, it's nice to just let Sam enjoy his moment.
Oh, and there's the added significance of Sam - a man who knows about White Walkers, their vulnerability to Valyrian steel, and has killed one already - now possessing a weapon that can destroy them. Now he just has to hold on to it long enough to become a Maester and get back to the Wall...
