Game Of Thrones Season 6: 10 Ups and 2 Downs From 'The Door'

Downs...

2. Tyrion Flounders In Meereen

Game Of Thrones Kinvara
HBO

Ok, so maybe some degree of nit-picking here, because as a scene on its own the one in Meereen this week was enjoyable. Kinvara is another great example of a Red Priestess at the height of confidence, and indeed as a High Priestess she may outrank (and be more powerful than) Melisandre.

A particular highlight here was her battle of wits with Varys, as he shows his (understandable) dislike of anyone using magic, but she disarms him by revealing she knows his history.

The issue is with the larger Meereen storyline, which is still really treading water. Tyrion is on great form, but none of it really feels like it matters all that much until Daenerys returns - and when she does, she has an army of Dothraki to help her cause. The Imp is trying his best, both in ruling and making things interesting, but it's been hard enough to make Meereen work with Daenerys, nevermind without her.
