Game Of Thrones Season 6: 10 Ups and 2 Downs From 'The Door'

5. Leaving Castle Black

Game Of Thrones Sansa Jon Edd Brienne
HBO

With a decision made about marching on Winterfell, there's some plotting and planning in this episode to work out just how Jon and Sansa can amass the forces to take on the Boltons.

Jon floats the idea of rallying a number of the small Northern houses, which means we're going to go on a bit of a recruitment mission, first stop: White Harbour. The Manderlys finally coming into things is exciting, especially since the show's diverged considerably from their plot, and hopefully they can still include certain elements of it.

What's particularly interesting, though, is the way Sansa lies to Jon about how she heard of the Tullys being back at Riverrun. It seems an odd decision, and even Brienne calls out her on it. Sansa is becoming an excellent player of the game, and a big part of the reason for that is she learnt at the hand of Littlefinger, and this moment shows that he still has some influence over her, because while she's rejecting his offer, this lie stems from his warning about Jon just being her "half-brother."

Bonus mention: Tormund is still giving Brienne the eye, but she's currently close to punching him than she is anything romantic. Though Tormund would probably consider that a sign of affection.
