Game Of Thrones: 10 Ways Season 5 Was Better Than The Books
3. Sansa Finding Out About Bran & Rickon
The Sansa storyline this season has been a bit problematic, but one great change was towards the end when she has a confrontation with Theon.
First of all, it’s great to see her take out her anger over the death of Bran and Rickon, because that obviously would be something she’s been haunted by for years and would be the first thing on her mind when running into him. In the books, Sansa has not had any sort of interaction with Theon recently. Then Theon slips and reveals that he didn’t really burn Bran and Rickon, and they’re probably still out there alive and well.
For all of this season, and most of the show really, Sansa has been beaten down over and over and has experienced almost nothing but pain and misery, but this gave her some glimmer of hope knowing that she isn’t completely alone in the world. In addition to hearing that Jon is now commander of the night’s watch, even though she lost Ned, Cat and Robb, Sansa is revitalized knowing she isn’t truly the last surviving member of her family. She now has even more of a reason to live.
