Game Of Thrones: 10 Worst Changes From The Books
3. Making Ramsay The Main Antagonist
During his tenure on Game of Thrones, Ramsay Bolton became the most hated character in TV history. What with all the raping, flaying, and infanticide, he didn't have many redeeming features. But he wasn't just cruel, he was calculated.
Ramsay had a plan to rule the North, he used his prominent father to gain legitimacy and then did away with him when he wasn't needed. Although he had the backing of the Lannisters, one certainly felt he could get on quite happily without them.
This isn't really the way it works in the books. If anything, Ramsay is far more depraved, but he's also a bit clueless. He thinks he's surrounded by a group of loyal men known as the 'Bastard's Boys', in actual fact these men are loyal to his father Roose, and report to him about his son's actions.
Roose is still alive in the books, and is most definitely calling the shots. It's a far more interesting dynamic as we see Roose use his son - much like Tywin used the Mountain - as the wildcard on the battlefield.
Choosing to focus on Ramsay resulted in attention being taken away from Euron, who is in actual fact the true threat in Westeros, and may even trigger the coming of the White Walkers through dark sorcery.
