Game Of Thrones: 10 Worst Characters Who Appeared After Season One
4. Edmure Tully
Oh, Edmure.
The brother of Catelyn Stark, many fans were surely expecting the heir to House Tully to be a riveting example of the most honourable noblemen in Westeros. Sadly, Edmure is yet another character used for comedic relief.
To be fair, this particular entry isn't down to the character being underused, and Tobias Menzies does a fabulous job with the character given to him (seriously, if you underestimate his acting chops, check him out as Prince Philip in The Crown), but Edmure is portrayed as such a coward, you do question how he actually made it to the end of a show renowned for killing off its greatest heroes.
In some ways, it’s actually a bit of a tragedy that Edmure survives the events of the Red Wedding - if he had perished with his sister he would likely be seen as a much more sympathetic figure today. Instead we see him reach the end of the road and attempt to have a go at claiming the crown in the series finale (after two seasons of being absent).
As if anyone actually took him seriously as a contender.
