Game Of Thrones: 12 Things You Learn Rewatching Season 6
11. Jon's Resurrection And His Rebirth
To the surprise of approximately no one, Jon Snow returned to life in the second episode of the show, Home, with the follow-up further exploring his return.
While the merits of this decision can be debated, what's particularly interesting on rewatch is the difference in Jon's character, and how he is resurrected in this instance, but it's not until the Battle of the Bastards that he is truly reborn.
Following his resurrection, Jon is done fighting. He's fought and he lost, his watch has ended, he's done. He's pushed into fighting Ramsay, ultimately doing so out of a sense of duty and honour, and even then you can see him resign himself: when he faces down all those horses, he appears as a man ready to die.
It's in that battle he learns to fight for life again: in the crush, which could have killed him, he forces his way upwards and emerges gasping for air, a scene that works as his 'rebirth'. From this moment on, while he no longer fears death, he also knows how important it is to fight for the living with every last moment he has, which we see throughout Season 7 and will do again in Season 8.
