Game Of Thrones: 12 Ups And 5 Downs From Season 7
7. The Greyjoys Were Interesting Again
The Greyjoys have had a bit of a mixed time on the show. Theon has had a great arc - albeit one that involved him being graphically tortured - but the rest of the family hasn't fared so well. They did come back into play a little in Season 6, but it was quite brief. Season 7, for the most part, did a great job in building them back up.
There's a fair argument to be made that Euron Greyjoy was the most improved player of Season 7. Not only did he get a fancy makeover, complete with haircut and eyeliner, but he was also more fully realised as a villain. He got a little lost in the shuffle towards the middle, but for the first three episodes he was one of the strongest characters, with some of the best lines, a great action sequence, and a tangible threat to him.
Theon, meanwhile, made huge strides in his redemption arc. Alfie Allen has long been one of the show's best performers, and he was utterly heartbreaking this year when he fled Euron at sea, and when his shattered self was reunited with Jon (especially their second scene). Yara was the least served of the family, but even she had some strong moments in the early stages, especially her off-the-cuff scene with Ellaria and the brilliant sea battle that followed.
