Game Of Thrones: 12 Ups And 5 Downs From Season 7
6. The Rogues
Outside of its truly main characters - basically anyone with the surname Stark, Lannister, Targaryen, or Snow - the show has a ridiculous wealth of supporting players to try and balance. And while that's a difficult job it doesn't always succeed in, Season 7 did well by a number of the wise-cracking, badass rogues we've grown to love over the years.
Bronn has felt a little underused since teaming up with Jaime, and that seemed to be the case again after the first three episodes. But then The Spoils of War was, in part, focused around him, and following him through the battlefield was one of the season's most stunning moments. He got to be a hero, shoot a dragon, save Jaime's life, reunite with Tyrion and Pod, and deliver some ridiculously good lines.
Likewise, Tormund serves as something of his Northern equivalent, and while he disappeared to Eastwatch for a spell, he again had some huge moments this season (two of which he probably should've died in), and was a joy to watch. Davos was once again the best of the advisors, serving by Jon's side and offering up plenty of sage advice; Jorah was cured of greyscale in rather gross out fashion, was reunited with his khaleesi, and then got to go off to capture a wight (a dumb plan, but his part was still noble); the Hound, after coming back in Season 6, really reminded us why he's one of the show's greatest, most well-developed characters as he saw into the flames and overcame - and then was haunted by again - his fears; Beric got to wield his flaming sword once more.
These characters may not be outright heroes, but they're among the show's most fascinating and, on a more basic level, enjoyable to watch, and that was definitely the case this year.
