Game Of Thrones: 13 Crazy Fan Theories That Could Actually Be True

10. Azor Ahai/The Prince That Was Promised

"After a long summer, Azor Ahai will be reborn amidst smoke and salt wielding the flaming sword Lightbringer to defend the world from R'hllor's nemesis, the Other."

One of the big questions surround Azor Ahai is whether or not the fabled warrior is the same person as the Prince That Was Promised, the prophesied leader or saviour coming to deliver the world from darkness. Since so many of the signs are the same (or similar), there's a divide about whether they're the same or not, but either way there are two obvious contenders.

Daenerys Targaryen was born at Dragonstone (salt) and then reborn on Khal Drogo's funeral pyre (salt), with three baby dragons ("Hatch dragons from stone"), while a Red Comet appeared in the sky ("when the sky bleeds"), while Lightbringer, the burning sword, could even be taken as being Drogon.

As for Jon Snow, he was born under a bleeding star: Dawn, the sword of Ser Arthur Dayne, which was forged from a fallen star. His wounds smoked when he was stabbed, with Bowen Marsh crying salty tears, and he's also had dreams of fighting the Others with a burning sword in his hand.

Meanwhile, since for TPTWP the person is believed to need to be of the Aerys II/Rhaella line, R+L=J confirmation brings Jon into this as well. The only stumbling point is the dragons.

If they are the same person, then Dany is currently better placed to be Azor Ahai, given the criteria. If they're different, then we could have Dany as Azor, and Jon Snow as The Prince (or vice versa).
