Jorah had an emotional farewell with Daenerys in Season 6, as he finally revealed his greyscale to her, and she commanded him to go and find a cure. A nice thought, but easier said than done, since no adult is known to have survived the disease.

However, that doesn't mean it can't be cured. After all, it was stopped from taking over Shireen Baratheon's body, albeit she was a child, and even then it took the finest Maesters and medicines money could buy. But if we accept there is a potential cure, then there seems to be hope for Jorah, and it lies in a familiar face. Or mask.

The strange woman he met in Qarth has long been the subject of fan theories, since, well, she speaks in riddles and covers her face, and is one of the most mysterious characters in the entire saga. But the idea of her having a part to play in Jorah being cured does have a fair bit of logic and precedent to it.

She knows who Jorah is, despite the pair having never met, but more importantly she is treating a man who is to sail past Old Valyria, as an attempt to protect him from greyscale. Then there's the mask itself: 1) it could actually be hiding the fact she has greyscale, stopped from spreading in a similar way to Shireen, and 2) it looks pretty similar to the necklaces worn by Red Priestesses. Quaithe is said to be a shadowbinder, like Melisandre, and thus will possess some magical prowess.

Knows Jorah, has knowledge of greyscale, able to use magic, is someone expected to return and play a bigger part in things. There's plenty going for this theory, and it then gives Jorah the freedom to die a heroic death saving Daenerys after being cured.
