Throughout the series, fans of Game of Thrones learned to expect the unexpected. From Ned Stark's untimely death to the Red Wedding and Ramsay's horrible treatment of Theon, audiences found that absolutely anything could happen in George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire.

However, there were a few things that were inevitable, including the eventual death of Cersei Lannister. The Queen was one of the greatest antagonists the show had ever seen, but no one truly believed that she would survive to sit the Iron Throne and rule Westeros.

But how would it happen? How could the writers give Cersei Lannister a death fit for one of the greatest characters in the show's history? Would Jaime kill her? Or possibly Tyrion? Either would fulfil the Valonqar prophecy as told by Maggy the Frog.

Perhaps the greatest of these theories however, suggested that Arya would personally cross Cersei off her list, closing off the character arc she began way back in season two. She travelled all the way from Winterfell to King's Landing after the battle with the dead, specifically to kill Cersei, and with her very specific skills, she had the means of taking Jaime's face to get close enough to her.

This would have given Arya, Cersei, and even Jaime an end to the saga worthy of their incredible characters.
