Over the years, Game of Thrones became known for its shocking moments and major character deaths. Even to this day however, the death of Ned Stark in season one remains one of the most shocking scenes in the history of the show.

Such was the Game of Thrones fan base, and their loyalty to the Lord of Winterfell, there were many that simply wouldn't accept that the most honourable man in Westeros was actually dead. Despite George R. R. Martin never holding back from killing major characters, there was a wonderful denial of Sean Bean's head being removed from his body.

From this blind faith came a theory that could have actually potentially made a lot of sense. What if Ned was replaced with a Faceless Man before his execution, who gave his life for the Warden of the North to keep his own? The still-breathing Ned then lived out the rest of his days as the mysterious Jaqen H'ghar.

This would certainly go a long way to explaining the relationship between Jaqen and Arya, and why they were almost destined to each other for much of the remainder of the series, and would have added yet another layer to Arya's time in the House of Black and White.
