Game Of Thrones: 18 Terrible Ideas That Were Great To Watch

15. Kidnapping TyrionGame Of Thrones Kidnapping Tyrion If ever there was a character that did not need a "jump to conclusions" floor mat, that character would have to be Catelyn Stark, whose first big leap occurred at the end of the fourth episode of the first season, in what was possibly her most simultaneously awesome and poorly conceived plan of the entire show. By this point, Catelyn is attempting to travel undetected across the country to quietly solve the mystery of her son's attacker (see #18) without making any outright accusations that could prove politically troublesome. Her plan falls apart, however, when Tyrion Lannister recognizes her when they happen to meet at an overcrowded tavern. Unexpectedly faced with the man whom she believes to have visited her home as a guest and then proceeded to attempt to murder her son, Lady Stark uses what weapons she has at her disposal against him. Scanning the room, she identifies the sigils of several of her father's bannermen (including the Twin Towers of Frey), and she calls upon the men to seize Tyrion on her behalf. Filled with righteous indignation and most of the audience's sympathies, Catelyn prepares to exact her own brand of justice. As it happens, however, the evidence upon which she seizes Tyrion is not quite overwhelmingly conclusive. The only real links between him and the attempted assassination of Bran is the knife used, and Tyrion himself is quick to point out that it would be a very foolish man who would arm an assassin with his own distinctive blade. Unfortunately, none of this occurs to Catelyn until she has already abducted Tyrion and is in the process of hauling him up to the Eyrie, prompting the calling of banners and the first steps toward war.
