Game Of Thrones: 20 Greatest Performances

15. Iain Glen - Jorah Mormont

Cersei game of thrones
HBO

Scottish actor Iain Glen is another one of the show's scene-stealers and yet another master of subtle acting. Despite the stoic nature of his performance as Jorah Mormont, it was still a thoroughly charismatic and affecting one thanks to all the subtext within every line delivery and facial expression.

In particular, his performance in the season four scene in which Jorah is banished was fantastic, albeit painful to watch thanks to Glen's emotionally-broken acting. Throughout that particular scene, looking at his face was like looking into the sun.

He was also an enormously likeable character who was hard not to root for; of course, Jorah did have some very dark actions in his past but thanks to how much Glen humanised Jorah it was easy to forgive him.

He was a character who wasn't expected to make it as far as he did due to him being infected with Greyscale, but it's hard to imagine anyone complaining. More of Jorah was never a bad thing and besides, he got a strong ending (unlike many of the characters who made it to season eight) in the Battle of Winterfell.
