9. The Posters & Teasers

HBO have released a number of posters and teasers to help hype the upcoming season, all of which have been very heavy on the symbolism. There's been a poster of Drogon made to look like the Iron Throne, and another that has the Throne made up out of the bodies of all the major characters lying in the snow. In both, the implications are clear: it's about the battle of ice and fire, of the living vs the dead, and the Iron Throne does still matter a bit, but not as much as it used to.

Alongside the posters, we've also had a number of images of various characters sitting on the Iron Throne, and a batch of images that, well, don't really give away anything at all. The first teaser, meanwhile, was a 54-second mood-builder that didn't offer any footage, but did play into the Great War imagery.

Since then we've had a couple more teasers, most recently - and ominously - one called Aftermath, which is ostensibly showing us the fallout from the Battle of Winterfell, with objects such as Lyanna's feather, Bran's wheelchair, Needle, Jaime's hand, and Longclaw lying in the snow:

There have also been a couple of TV spots, called Together and Survival. They're mostly focused on Daenerys and Jon arriving at Winterfell, the dragons, and the impending battle, with notable highlights including a tease of Arya and Jon's reunion, and what might be a hint at Jon Snow riding a dragon:
